National Chiayi University (NCYU), commonly referred to as Chiayi University, was established in 2000 through the merger of the National Chiayi Institute of Technology (founded in 1920) and the National Chiayi Normal College (founded in 1957). The university’s mission and vision are focused on "illuminating Chiayi, gaining national recognition, and stepping onto the international stage." NCYU is committed to conducting advanced academic research and training specialized professionals. The university strives to create a warm, harmonious, and culturally rich campus environment, offering comprehensive education and research across various academic fields such as education, arts and humanities, management, agriculture, science and technology, life sciences, and veterinary medicine.
The university has four campuses (Lantan, Minsyong , Xinmin, and Linsen) and a practice forest. The Lantan campus , where the administrative headquaters is located, is situated between two famous scenic areas, Lantan Reservoir and Renyitan Reservoir. It accommodated the College of Agriculture, College of Science and Engineering, and College of Life Sciences. Minsyong located in Minsyong Township, accommodated the Teachers College and College of Humanities and Arts. Sinmin campus and Linsen campus both are located in the center of Chiayi City. Sinmin campus accommodated the College of Management and College of Veternary Medicine. The four campuses each have their unique characteristics but also appropriately complement each other.
