WHO WE ARE
The umbrella body connecting returning Malaysian undergraduate and postgraduate students from China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. The association aims to tackle brain drain, strengthen unity, enhance employability, skills development, community service.
2005
The Association of Graduates from Universities and Colleges of China, Malaysia was officially registered on 10 October 2005, with members comprising of graduates from universities in China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. The association started by assisting locals who were interested to study in China, helping them with university selection, admission procedures, obtaining scholarships and bursaries and settling down in China.
With the growing number of members, the association then extended their scope to help Malaysian students in China, resolving issues they face. The association has since built a connection with the Malaysian Embassy in China and the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia.
2015 – PRESENT
In conjunction with the association’s 10th year anniversary, the first Chinese university education fair was held. Since then, the education fair is being held annually, with a growing participation from Chinese universities all across China. The universities whom the association work with include renowned universities such as Tsinghua University, Shanghai JiaoTong University, Zhejiang University etc. The annual Chinese Education Fair is now a flagship event for the association and has expanded to Johor and Penang apart from Kuala Lumpur.
The association then received requests from Chinese school teachers, headmasters, principals to assist in skills exchange of Chinese educators. Teachers can now go on exchange programmes or skills enhancement programmes in China. The range of education provided includes early childhood education and programmes for Chinese culture and Mandarin language lecturers in local universities.
WHAT WE DO
For students, the association organises the following programmes annually: Chinese higher education fair, student exchange programmes, summer camps and winter camps.
For teachers, the association helps them to enhance skills in teaching, be it at the early childhood education stage, primary or secondary level. The classes include Mandarin pronunciation class, Mandarin teaching etc. The association invites lecturers from universities in China to host classes and workshops for local teachers.
For the government sector, local Chinese school officials have gone on exchange programmes to learn about how education is running in China. For professionals, the association has organised philosophy education and media programmes, cultural exchanges, management programmes for headmasters and principals. The association also connects Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics professionals to develop their skills in China.
