Kolej Yayasan UEM (KYUEM) has again surpassed expectations in terms of this year’s Cambridge A level results. Below are some of the data achieved by our July, 2017 and January, 2018 cohorts, published in August, 2019:

93% of all grades were in the range A* to B.
78% of all grades were either A* or A.
65% of students achieved at least 3 A grades.
28% of students achieved at least 4 A grades.
28% of students achieved at least 3 A* grades.

These data categories exceed those of last year by between 1 and 5%. In addition, 8 of our students will enrol at the University of Cambridge and 2 at the University of Oxford this year. Our university placement success this year is projected at 92% of students securing a place at either a firm or insurance choice university. Many of our students will already have received multiple offers from the finest universities in the UK, USA and Australia. Furthermore, every year we are informed that several of our students are awarded either “Best in the World” or “Best in Malaysia” for their performance in individual A level subjects.

How is this achieved?
KYUEM is a very selective college that requires a strong academic performance from its students. While our students are actively encouraged to develop independence in their learning we provide an exceptional range of support throughout their time with us. Ours is an entirely residential college and we are very aware of the extra responsibility this implies. All KYUEM students are assigned to a pastoral tutor group incorporated into a “House” system, entrusted to a House Parent and overseen by our Student Services Department. Attached to this department is a fully qualified counsellor, and a Health Clinic with 3 qualified nurses. Our students live and work in an environment that is academically demanding and their emotional well-being is of immense importance to us.

Our Academic and University Relations Departments liaise to provide the finest advice to the students throughout their A level course. This ensures that together we maximise student potential and assist in securing the finest of higher education placements. We are acutely aware of changes in the global educational environment and the need to prepare our students to face the challenges that lie ahead. KYUEM receives frequent visits from admissions officers and senior academics of top universities, informing us all of the latest degree course opportunities, subject combinations, and likely grade requirements.

Infrastructure and Procedure.
The college is fully boarding and is to be found 70km north of Kuala Lumpur. It comprises a 50 acre site with exceptional facilities and is quiet and conducive to study. Our relative isolation demands a high level of security which features round-the-clock patrols by our security guards and an extensive CCTV camera network.

Every student has a private bedroom in a variety of accommodation types (4-bedroomed villas, 2- bedroomed chalets or an apartment block). Each may eat 3 times per day at our newly reconstructed Dining Hall, or take advantage of the subsidised college cafeteria. We have a range of very new and refurbished classrooms, 10 science laboratories, a “cyber lounge” and an IT laboratory. In addition we are served by a recently renovated Resource Centre with a multitude of texts and an AV room. Our sporting facilities include a dedicated Sports Hall with squash and badminton courts, and a weight-training room. We have a football/rugby pitch and an Olympic-sized swimming pool. The latest stage of our ongoing renovation programme will soon come to completion with a completely refurbished Great Hall. Our Muslim students and staff have the college Surau at their disposal.

KYUEM teachers are International A level specialists who are highly qualified and approved by the Ministry of Education. We offer only Cambridge International AS and full A levels, delivered by local and expatriate teachers who are dedicated, hard-working and highly qualified. In turn their work is supplemented by numerous administrative and support staff of the highest calibre.
