Introduction

National Dong Hwa University currently consists of 7 colleges: the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the College of Science and Engineering, the College of Management, the College of Indigenous Studies, the Hua-Shih College of Education, the College of Fine Arts, the College of Environmental Studies and Oceanography. In all, there are a total of 41 academic departments, 43 graduate institutes, and 19 Ph.D. programs. Totaling over 10,000 students, out of which about 3,800 are graduate students. Students are admitted to the University only after undergoing a rigorous screening process, which includes the College Entrance Examination and other equally stringent methods of evaluation. The student body comprises students from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds from all over Taiwan and various foreign countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, India, and Myanmar. At present, the University boasts over 500 scholars who dedicate themselves to teaching and research; more than 98%t of these full-time faculty members hold Ph.D. degrees from the world's most prestigious universities.

National Dong Hwa University Scholarship Regulations for Overseas Chinese Students

Benefit

Types of Scholarship:
1. Undergraduate
a. Exemption of Tuition and Fees: (Standards for exemption of tuition and fees shall be based on the university’ announcement.)
b. Living Allowances: NTD4,000 each month during the semester when scholarship is received.
2. Graduate School
a. Exemption of Tuition and Fees: (Standards for exemption of tuition and fees shall be based on the university’ announcement.)
b. Living Allowances: NTD6,000 each month during the semester when scholarship is received.

Requirement

1. Students with official student status (excluding deferred study students) in this school without receiving this school’s punishment more serious than reprimand (included) during their study.
2. For undergraduate students, academic performance for previous semester shall rank among top 35% of classes in their departments with conduct grades reaching more than 80 points.
3. For graduate students, academic performance for previous semester shall rank among top 35% of classes in their departments with conduct grades reaching more than 80 points.
4. For students without academic performance for previous semester because they are in the period of writing master’s and doctoral thesis:
These students may present their thesis writing plans and file for application within the school’s application deadline. Thesis writing plan shall include research motive and purpose, research structure and design, date collection measures and sources, summary of thesis, reference books or academic paper publications, and so on.
5. For students of 5-year program for BA and MA degree, or students with direct admissions to master or Ph.D. degree, academic performances throughout the years in master or Ph.D. classes can be utilized for application hereto.

Apply

1. Newly admitted students: Admission documents prepared during application to study at the university will be utilized for review standards.
2. Current Students: The following materials shall be submitted for application within deadline announced by Office of International Affairs during opening of each semester:
(1) Application form for this scholarship (mandatory)
(2) Official copy of academic performance for previous semester (mandatory)
(3) Ranking percentage in the whole class for previous semester (mandatory)
(4) Other supporting materials for review: (For instance, teacher’s recommendation letter, competition award certificate, extra-curricular cadre proof, presentation of academic paper, and so on.) (optional)

Total number of recipients shall depend on annual budget of that specific year.
