Despark was established on 15 September 2005, started as academy in Bukit Raja, Klang Selangor. Despark Auto Academy was accredited by Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran(JPK) to conduct the Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) Program under Automotive After Sales Service Level 2. At the same time Despark Auto Academy also get accredited by City and Guilds (C&G), United Kingdom to conduct the International Vocational Qualification (IVQ) Program under Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles. Despark was then expanded in Bachang, Malacca on July 2006, Georgetown, Penang in August 2007. The success of Despark led to its establishing branch campuses in Malaysia with a total investment of RM 4 million, and realizing its vision to be the largest private institution of automotive engineering in Malaysia.
The number of students grew tremendously and by November 2009 the Klang campus was relocated to the present main campus in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
Despark engages key players in the automotive industries. We constantly offer training of the latest automotive technologies to not only the students but trainers as well. For instance, trainers are continuously sent to Bosch, which is widely recognized as having the most contemporary and innovative automotive engine technologies for training. Besides, trainers are also sent to Corida, the premier automotive tool and equipment supplier, in order to ensure constant improvement of the trainers’ training skills and expertise in the area. To complement this, the trainers and lecturers are also placed and attached to the real working environment where they are involved in job and information exchanging programs carried out in the commercial car service centers in the market.
With the experiences and professionalism of Despark, it was upgraded from academy to college. Despark College (DK099(B)) has been accredited by Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) to conduct engineering program: Certificate in Automotive Engineering Technology (CAET) and Diploma in Automotive Engineering Technology (DAET) in September 2012.
In order to generate opportunities for students to pursue and further their education abroad, Despark College partners with one of the largest education group in the world, Pearson to conduct an internationally recognized certification, BTEC (Business Technology Education Council) in year 2014. Despark College offers Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Technology (Motorsports) covers the technical knowledge and skills that are important when students engage in the motorsports industry, and Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Automotive Engineering in which students may complete dual diploma in an effective and efficient way.
Despark College envisioned to nurture competent professionals to better serve the industry and the people. It will continue to push on and strive to be the hub of engineering center.
