Chaoyang University of Technology, the first private technological university in Taiwan, was established in 1994. It locates at Wufeng, Taichung, a place with poetic scenery, aggregating talented people and culture. The school name Chaoyang implies the unyielding perseverance and hard work of a man of integrity in times of adversity, like the universe, always high-spirited and strives for progress to become excellent and extraordinary. The school has six colleges and 25 departments, offering 5 Ph.D. programs, 23 Master’s Classes, and undergraduate programs, with around 14,500 students and 600 faculty members. Chaoyang has achieved excellence and entered various renowned international rankings: the World University Rankings of Times Higher Education (THE) for five straight years, Impact Rankings, Young University Rankings, Emerging Economies Rankings, Asia University Rankings, Computer Science Rankings, and Engineering Rankings. Not only entering the 2024 Times Higher Education, QS Asia University Rankings, but it has become the Top 100 in the GreenMetric World University Rankings for five consecutive years.
Chaoyang has signed collaboration pacts with over 640 overseas universities and engaged world-class scholars and foreign intellectuals from Hungary, Israel, Denmark, Britain, America, Canada, Turkey, the Slovak Republic, Japan, and India as part of the teaching team. Each year, the school sponsors a thousand students to participate in overseas study schemes. They have opportunities to join study tours, exchange programs, dual-degree programs, overseas learning, international competition and conferences, volunteer service, and overseas internship. To boost R&D performances and industry-academic collaborations, the school strengthens the University-Level Research Centers through featured programs. It has invested TWD 500 million to establish the College of Aviation with the Department of Aeronautical Engineering, Aviation Technology, and Air Transport Management. Chaoyang is the only institute in Taiwan that works with airlines to provide professional flight training.
