Introduction

Established in 1991, Penghu Campus of National GaoXiong Marine Junior College is the predecessor of National Penghu University of Science and Technology that formally comes off and shifts into National Penghu Marine Junior College in 1995. In the year of 2000, it is upgraded to National Penghu Institute and officially reorganized into a university of science and technology. Being the first and one-and-only university of science and technology in outlying island form on Taiwan Strait, our university is composed of 3 schools including college of Humanities and Management, college of Tourism and Leisure, and college of Marine Resources and Engineering, with 12 departments, 5 graduate institutes, and a general education center. Our goal is to culture all kinds of talents and experts in the fields of marine fishery, tourism and leisure, technology, and management for our country, offering not only local opportunities of personnel training which can reduce education divide between Penghu County and Island of Taiwan but also direct contributions in promoting regional industrial development, economic and cultural growth.

Benefit
1.NPU Stipend:
1-1.This living stipend is awarded for a maximum of ten months, and recipients of this award need to assist in teaching or research for a maximum of 30 hours in the Department in which recipients are studying. The amount of the stipend is awarded based on the class rank
1-2.This stipend is awarded on the basis of student academic performance; this stipend will be awarded to the student who has a higher score of moral conduct in the case of identical academic performance.
1-3.Newly admitted students will be awarded NT$6,000 per month.
2.Waiver of Tuition and Miscellaneous Fees
2-1.Half of the tuition and miscellaneous fees are waived for newly admitted students. A total of five students who have shown excellence in academic performance and who are approved by the university are eligible for a full waiver of tuition and miscellaneous fees.
2-2.Currently enrolled students who rank in the top 70% of their class are eligible for a half waiver of tuition and miscellaneous fees. The number of students who are eligible to apply is unlimited.
2-3.Currently enrolled students who rank in the top 5% of their class are eligible for a full waiver of tuition and miscellaneous fees. In the case of identical academic performance, this waiver will be awarded first to the student who has a higher score of moral conduct. The number of this waiver program is limited to 15 students per year.
2-4.This waiver is not applicable to students who are admitted through a particular case.
3-1.Housing Waiver: Newly admitted students pay for their housing fees according to the amount specified by the university. Students who are admitted through a particular case pay for their housing fees case by case, and need to fulfill a dormitory service requirement of up to 30 hours. Currently enrolled students whose academic performance and moral conduct reach a score of 80 and who rank in the top 5% of their class are eligible for a full housing waiver and need to fulfill a dormitory service requirement of up to 30 hours.
3-2.The number of receivers of NPU stipend, (full) waiver of tuition and miscellaneous fees, waiver of university housing is limited to 20 undergraduate and graduate students per year for each category.
4-1.Applications of NPU stipend should be submitted to the Student Activity Division of the Student Affairs Office. Applications of waiver of tuition and miscellaneous fees and waiver of university housing should be submitted to the Student Assistance Division of the Student Affairs Office.
5-1.Students who have received the Taiwan Scholarship are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
