Major Subjects
(1) Wood Science and Furniture Engineering
The programme focuses on research on the biological and materialistic properties of wood, wood-based panels, structural timber, wood composites, adhesives and coatings, functionalised wood, low-carbon processing technologies for wood products, wood structures, design theories and methods for furniture and interiors, and green furniture design and intelligent manufacturing.
(2) Forestry Chemical Processing Engineering
Research on the chemistry and utilization of tree extracts, biochemical processing of forest resources, wood pyrolysis and activated carbon, and processing of fine chemicals for forest products.
(3) Biomass Energy and Materials
The main research areas include resource utilization of agricultural and forestry biomass, multi-gasification of agricultural and forestry biomass, preparation of bio-liquid fuels, preparation and application of solid forming fuels, bio-functional materials, biomass polymer materials, processing of biomass chemicals, etc.
(4) Pulping Chemistry and Engineering
The main research areas are efficient separation of agricultural and forestry residue components, efficient separation and processing of secondary fibers, cellulosic functional materials, efficient utilization of lignin and hemicellulose, and clean pulp production technology.
(5) Forest Engineering
Research is mainly conducted in forest harvesting theory and technology, forest engineering equipment and automation, forest transportation and logistics engineering, forest products testing and development, and forest operation and environment.
