The predecessors of the School of Resources and Environment of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University are the Department of Soil Agrochemistry of the former Fujian Agricultural College and the
Department of Land and Environment of the former Fujian Agricultural University respectively. The former Department of Soil Agrochemistry was established in 1958. In the 1990s, to meet the needs of
rapid social and economic development, the Department of Land Management and Agricultural Environmental Protection was established and renamed as the Department of Land and Environmental Studies in
1994, and the School of Resources and Environment was established in May 2001 when Fujian Agricultural University and Fujian Forestry College merged.
Some of the more important research projects undertaken by teachers in the School of Resources and Environment at Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University include: the National Natural Science
Foundation of China, the Central Environmental Protection Special Fund Project, the Ministry of Education Scholarship Fund, the Ministry of Education Key Project, the National Comprehensive
Agricultural Development Office, the Provincial Science and Technology Department Key Project, the Provincial Major Special Preliminary Research Project, the World Bank Red Soil Loan Research Project,
the Provincial Agricultural Leapfrog Project, the Provincial Environmental Protection Bureau Key Project, the Provincial Water Resources Department, the Provincial Land Department, the Provincial
Tobacco Bureau, the Provincial Department of Agriculture, the Provincial Geological Survey Institute, and other research projects, as well as participating in the Canadian International Cooperation
Summer (CIDA) project.
